Library and Museum
The Finnish American Heritage Society of Maine is proud to house an impressive museum displaying the history and perseverance of the Finnish immigrants to the West Paris area. The museum captures the hard work, struggles and celebrations of our earliest settlers.
The museum is housed on the second floor and is divided into three parts.
Room 1: Research and Immigrant History
This room contains a research area, the “Immigrant Wall” of pictures and displays and artifacts of area churches and the Co-Op formed by the Finnish-Americans. There is also an area dedicated to the Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine.

Room 2: Displays and Artifacts
The second room contains displays of Finnish items and artifacts, which have come directly from Finland and have been donated by members and friends.
Room 3: Storage and Archives
This space is reserved for office/storage as well as the archives for old newspapers, magazines, books and records (78s). A
stereo, slide projector and screen are readily available in this room.

The Library:
The library houses a vast collection of books, scrapbooks, videos, audio tapes and CDs in both Finnish and English. Some Finnish novels have been translated into English and can therefore be enjoyed by all.

The museum and library are open during summer open house days, which are every Sunday from 2pm - 4pm in July and August. Special arrangements may be considered. Please email mainefinns1@gmail.com with inquiries.
